One little quik about me: I'd almost always choose a savory treat over dessert.

I've never had much of a sweet tooth. In fact, if I'm eating fruit, there's a good chance it's showing up alongside dinner instead of after it.

That's exactly why I chose this month's adventure.

Cherries have always been one of my favorite fruits. Growing up in Colorado, summer meant family trips into the mountains where we'd stop at little roadside orchards to pick cherries. One of my favorite memories is staying at a tiny mountain motel with a cherry grove behind it. Every room had a basket waiting by the door, and guests were invited to wander through the orchard picking cherries straight from the trees. I still remember my dad lifting me onto his shoulders so I could reach the highest branches.

Years later, after moving to Washington, I discovered an entirely new favorite: Rainier cherries. (Yes... I definitely pronounced them "Rainy-er" at first. Seattle’s weather had me convinced that made perfect sense.)

Because I naturally gravitate toward savory cooking, I wanted to pair cherries with something unexpected. Fresh rosemary brings an earthy, woodsy flavor that lets the cherries shine without turning every recipe into dessert.

Together, they create one of my favorite combinations—bright, savory, a little unexpected, and full of possibilities.
